Vietnamese sweet soup

I have many friends from outside of Vietnam, and everytime they come to visit me at Saigon (Hochiminh City, Vietnam), they always ask me to take them to the "sweep soup" shops. Especially the guys from Japan, all of them like Vietnamese sweet soup because it's not available in Japan.

Sweet soup is a special dessert that you can only find in Vietnam, Thailand, China and some other Southeast Asian countries. It is made from flour, beans and some specific kinds of fruit. You have to cook it for about 30 minutes, then you can eat it hot, or add some ice, or put it in a refrigerator and wait for it to be cooler. My friends and I prefer the cool ones.

Some famous Vietnamese sweet soups are: "che ba ba" (mixed sweep soup), "che dau xanh" (green bean sweet soup), "che chuoi" (banana sweet soup), "che bap" (corn sweet soup) and "che suong sa hat luu" (jelly sweet soup). If you don't know how to say the name, just take any because most of the sweet soups are tasty!

You can find "sweet soup" easily at Ben Thanh Market (Hochiminh City) with reasonable price. Or just walk on a street and pay attention, there are many! Its Vietnamese name is easy to remember: CHE!
